AGM
Winter Show
2003
 |
Cambridge June 2003
"Our most successful outing". |
The AGM, held at Cambridge in the North Island, was
well attended by all, not to mention the large support from the South
Island. As the Society grows so do the topics for discussion,
but it wasn't long before the meeting arrived at the appointment of
Council for 2003. After a short break it was not long before the Pipes
sounded and in came the Haggis. The Piper, well me actually, leading
the way, dodging the tables, was followed in hot pursuit by Errol Clark and
Berwyn Sterling. Not to mention our true Scotsman Ian Mac-Donald
who addressed and skewered the haggis well. With fine Highland
Beef on the menu, courtesy of Glenburn, Braco and Glenange Folds, we all
enjoyed a magnificent meal. |

Our Winter show
|
The night before a Human Bull was assessed with great
hilarity and entertainment , but it was now time for the more serious.
Getting bigger and better every year, 20 breeders with
over 60 animals on show and an attendance of 250 people or more to watch
these proud exhibitors pace their Highland Cattle around the ring.
Some classes had to be split as the numbers were just to big.

 | And what a venue!! |
Held at the Cambridge Thoroughbred Lodge, formally
holding the yearly horse sales, this was a great venue. With each fold
having their own stalls, there were lots of room for panic. How any
were groomed after such a wild night I do not know. Yet every entry really
looked the part. A credit to all those who took part. |

 | Happy to be Home. |
Aldochlay of Glenloch, exhausted after a day of being
push around, combed and washed, was treated by his, blown away owner, Gail
McKirdy (My wife) to a big ration of hay. Having won the Best Highland of the
Show, but only just as Errol and Netta Clarke showed their now Female
Champion Carron of Glenburn, I suppose he had earned it. |
